Russian Experts Certify 11 Domestic Potato Varieties Grown in Protected Ground in Moscow Region

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, specialists from the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rosselkhoztsentr” in the Moscow Region conducted an approbation of second-generation potato plantings in protected ground. The work took place at an enterprise in the Dmitrov municipal district. Specialists evaluated 11 varieties of domestic selection, including the registered varieties “Carmen,” “Athletic,” “Sarmat,” “Indigo” and “Agronaut,” as well as six promising samples currently undergoing breeding trials. During the approbation, the specialists checked the varietal purity of the plants, their general condition, and the presence of diseases and pests. Samples were taken evenly across the greenhouse area, taking into account the categories of seed material.

Based on the results of the inspection, approbation and survey reports are drawn up. The resulting documents record the results of the checks on the plantings and the seed material. This work supports the development and validation of domestic potato varieties, including promising breeding lines that have not yet been registered, and helps ensure that seed material produced in protected ground meets the required quality and varietal standards before it enters further multiplication and commercial use.
