In the village of Leka, within the Shatura urban district, local farmers are actively preparing for the upcoming seed potato harvest. Although this year’s agricultural season has been unusually wet and rainy, the prolonged precipitation has not dampened the confidence of local agronomists. Potatoes were planted across approximately 158 hectares, featuring seven well-tested varieties chosen for their differing maturation periods, yield potential, and disease resistance. Among this season’s newcomers is the “Madeline” variety, which has already shown strong performance under local conditions and is expected to contribute positively to the overall output.

Specialists from the farming enterprise are continuously monitoring the fields and assessing crop health, with all indicators progressing according to plan. Despite the damp summer, agronomists remain optimistic and assert that weather conditions will not adversely affect either the quality or the volume of the upcoming harvest. According to Vladimir Aksyonov, an agronomist at LLC “Agroforward,” the company intends to begin mass harvesting in late August or early September, ensuring that all preparatory work is completed on schedule to secure a successful yield.
